The collection contains four colored snapshpts of one of the old steam engines on a brief run for an unnamed special event together with a photograph of the last run of the Southern Crescent taken at the Charlottesville station 1979 January 31 and inscribed to John Dodson by photographer John Atkins. With the photographs are three "Yesteryears" columns by David A. Maurer from the Daily Progress November 2003, concerning a 1978 wreck in Nelson County.
